At L.E.A.F Africa, we're often asked how we can grow more food with less water. In a world where water scarcity is a pressing reality, this isn't just a question—it's the challenge that defines modern agriculture.
Traditional irrigation methods, while widespread, are often inefficient. A significant amount of precious water is lost to evaporation, runoff, and soil contamination before it ever reaches the plant's roots.
Our approach is different. Through an innovative Mobile Gully System (MGS), we've re-engineered irrigation from the ground up. Here’s how you can achieve radical water efficiency:
Unmatched Water Savings: By employing the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) in a closed-loop recirculation system, you can consistently achieve over 80% water savings compared to traditional farming. Water only leaves the system when it is actively taken up by the crop, meaning every drop is utilised.
Precision Nutrition & Hygiene: Each crop stage receives a tailored nutrient recipe via dedicated valve groups. This precision, combined with the elimination of soil, prevents fertilizer and nutrient waste while ensuring a highly clean and controlled end product.
️Proactive Protection: Water is not just recirculated; the system ensures its health. The water treatment protocols between cycles are a critical line of defence, safeguarding plant health and ensuring a consistent, high-quality yield.
Independence from Soil Quality: Because cultivation takes place without soil, production is no longer limited by local soil fertility or contamination issues — a major advantage in regions like Kenya where soil quality can vary greatly.
